Divin Mubama shone for West Ham against Brentford yesterday afternoon in a fog of negativity in west London. Divin Mubama came on for Pablo Fornals in the 58th minute of David Moyes’ Premier League defeat to Brentford Wednesday.
How awful a day it was for the Hammers to play the Bees. Considering that Moyes made nine changes to his starting XI, it is fair to say that the football was laughably terrible. What was unexpected was the West Ham second string’s lack of fight, dedication, and effort.
Almost everyone participating in the game put up a poor showing. However, there was one significant advantage for the Hammers in my opinion. The young teen was a wonderful shining light for the opposition yesterday. When he had the ball, his extraordinary mobility and technical brilliance made him appear to come alive.
The fact that he played with heart and grit on that particular day was maybe the most noteworthy. No other West Ham player did. Mubama, despite his youth, attempted to encourage his colleagues and shown true leadership abilities.
Mubama was the standout player for West Ham’s under-18 and under-21 teams this season. He scored 30 goals in 32 games for the Hammers’ youth squads (Transfermarkt). He have all the qualities to become a truly great center-forward, and it will be interesting to watch how he matures over the coming years.

Mubama later that month signed his first professional contract as a player, on his 17th birthday, before making his England U18s debut in November and scored on his third appearance for the Young Lions against Portugal.
In the 2021/22 season, the attacker went from strength to strength, becoming a regular for England U18s and scoring 15 goals in 23 games for the Hammers U18s. He scored his first goal for the U23s in the season finale, a 5-0 triumph over Derby County at London Stadium.
Mubama’s ambition came true on 3 November 2022, when he made his first-team debut in a 3-0 UEFA Europa Conference League Group B A Premier League victory, followed by a late replacement appearance in a 3-1 loss at Arsenal on Boxing Day 2022.
