As negotiations took a bad turn, Torino mobilised the Russians to threaten West Ham with a £22 million bill over Nikola Vlasic. Although Nikola Vlasic is still technically a member of West Ham, it has been clear for a time that his future lies elsewhere. In the summer, David Moyes sent Vlasic on a one-year loan to Torino of Italy.
The Croatian player, who had joined from CSKA Moscow, struggled to make a significant impact at West Ham. It was reported that the Hammers had incurred a minimum cost of £26 million for the transfer, which could potentially rise to £33 million with additional payments. This season, Vlasic has been on fire for Torino, raising concerns over Moyes’ decision to allow him to leave the Hammers.
The midfielder’s impressive form was halted by injuries, and he has battled ever since the World Cup break. For almost £13.5 million, Torino has the option to purchase Vlasic from West Ham. Furthermore, given how the Croatian midfielder had excelled, sources have long indicated that a trade is all but certain. However, there have recently been claims and denials of the scenario.
Russians Want $22 Million From Hammers In Relation To Vlasic
According to several sources, Torino has been attempting to haggle West Ham’s price down from that level in an effort to obtain Vlasic at a discount. There were rumors that West Ham would not be required to pay the remaining amount they owed CSKA for Vlasic following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Now that the negotiations have taken a bad turn, Torino is organizing the Russians to blackmail West Ham with a £22 million bill over Vlasic. As per to Tuttosport, CSKA Moscow’s legal action against the Hammers might help Torino in their efforts to persuade West Ham to accept a cheaper price for Vlasic.
According to the article, CSKA insists they were only given the first payment of the €30 million (£26 million) deal that was agreed upon in August 2021. According to the source, “FIFA ruled in favor of CSKA Moscow and warned West Ham to pay the remaining €17.43m (£15m) before July 31 or the amount owed will increase to €25.62m (£22m).”
Vlasic has also made it quite known that he is solely interested in going back to Torino and has no desire to play for any other team. The fact that the Hammers are only negotiating with one team rather than two or three complicates issues and raises the price closer to what they are seeking. If true, that allows West Ham around six weeks to come to an agreement with Torino so they may apply the funds toward the £15 million still owed to CSKA prior to the purported deadline.
