Scott McTominay’s potential signing with West Ham and Manchester United has allegedly been discussed. Following the high-profile exit of captain Declan Rice to Arsenal a few weeks ago, the Hammers are looking to bolster their midfield. Furthermore, according to Sky Sports, they have formally contacted United to ask for a price on the Scottish international.
The midfielder is regarded as a crucial element of the team and a “very big offer” would be necessary for the Red Devils to even contemplate selling him. There is allegedly a discrepancy between West Ham’s willingness to pay and United’s estimated value. After Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were signed last season, McTominay has struggled to get consistent playing time under Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch manager may decide to depart the team this summer as a result of the club’s ongoing changes and his rumored desire for more playing time. Financial Fair Play regulations may prevent the club from signing a straight successor for McTominay, therefore they may decide to keep the player for at least a year more. At the same time, should Ten Hag locate a player in a different position that he is eager to bring in, the allure of some much-needed money may prove to be too great to resist.
McTominay has not been able to secure a consistent spot on the first team, but it is not yet obvious if Ten Hag will be open to letting the player depart this summer. He played as a midfield cover in 39 matches throughout all competitions, although just 16 of those were starts, with just 10 of those coming in the Premier League.
A Major Boost For West Ham In Terms Of strikers This Summer
One thing seems to have become obvious after learning about the Hammers’ purported targets during the past 24 hours that during this time no strikers are being considered. That may mean one of two things: either Mikey Antonio or Gianluca Scamacca won’t be departing, or a certain young youngster named Divin Mubama has emerged as a highly promising Hammers prospect.
He has demonstrated that he is a player who is more than capable of unsettling defenses at any level with three goals in consecutive preseason games in addition to excellent performances whenever he made his debut last season at Premier League or Euro level. Although it is still early, the boss and assistant Billy McKinlay have both stated that this young kid has a bright future ahead of him.
And if the management permits it, one fully anticipate him to be competing with the senior attackers for starts before the season is out. When combined with the other academy players who have tremendous promise, this could make for a very entertaining season. It is about time West Ham took one of the several transfer chases they are currently engaged in seriously since there is no point in starting with 10 players if you don’t finish with any.
It would go a long way toward filling the enormous vacuum left by Rice if Ward-Prowse could join the team and be paired with another new player in the park’s middle. And with Tomas Soucek not the same player he was two years ago and perhaps on the decline as well, this season’s midfield pairing may take on a whole different appearance.
