West Ham and Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, have come to terms. The Athletic claims that the London club made a £30 million offer for Maguire on Monday, and the offer has already been accepted.
David Moyes’ squad is searching for reinforcements after selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105 million, and Maguire will be trying to revive his playing days after falling out of favor under Erik ten Hag. The 30-year-old played in just 16 Premier League games last season because Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, and Lisandro Martinez were favoured in the centre of defence.
The leadership of Manchester United was also removed from the England international earlier this summer. According to The Athletic, Harry Maguire, whose deal with United runs until 2025, wanted to stay and compete for a spot at Old Trafford, but England coach Gareth Southgate said that Maguire’s lack of time on the field at United would have an effect on his international future.
The club is trying to sell players this summer in the wake of the additions of Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hojlund. Harry Maguire moved to United from Leicester for £80 million in the summer of 2019. A £30 million offer from West Ham for Manchester United player Scott McTominay was turned down. However, they have agreed to a new £30 million contract with Southampton and are expected to sign James Ward-Prowse.
West Ham And Ward-Prowse Is A Done Deal
James Ward-Prowse will be moving from Southampton to West Ham United for a cost of £30 million. The London club and the England international are about to agree to a four-year contract. Ward-Prowse, who advanced through Southampton’s academy systems, has spent his whole career at the club.
The English professional has played 422 matches for the south coast team, with 55 goals and 55 assists. The midfielder participated in Southampton’s first Championship game of the year last week against Sheffield Wednesday but sat out Tuesday’s EFL Cup loss to Gillingham.
There is more to James Ward-Prowse than being a “dead-ball specialist.” Last season, amid Southampton’s disastrous Premier League campaign, he established the standards in the locker room while frantically attempting to stop the feeling of drift. He consistently placed at the top of the running charts, preseason fitness testing, and is the main liaison between the coaching staff and the players.
His commitment to preparation and making a difference has always been exceptional, as evidenced by the fact that, even as a youngster, West Ham obtains a credible, consistent player who brings a new perspective to the midfield, and Hammers fans can hope that he will be a potential replacement over the big names at the London stadium.
