Edson Alvarez, West Ham’s top summer acquisition, will not play in the tournament’s first match against TSC Backa Topola of Serbia. For the first time in the club’s history, West Ham will play in Europe for their third straight season.
The Hammers received promotion to the Europa League as reward for their amazing victory in the Europa Conference League in June. The Hammers will host TSC Backa Topola of Serbia in their first Group A encounter at the London Stadium. They progressed to the semifinals of that competition the previous season, so expectations are high.
Particularly considering the four superb additions that West Ham made in the summer in Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos, and Mohammed Kudus. The fact that Alvarez and Ward-Prowse are the team’s Declan Rice successors speaks something about West Ham’s operations.
Edson Alvarez is the player who many West Ham supporters already believe is extremely essential to David Moyes’ new-look team. Many fans feared the worst when he left the field against Man City with the score at 1-1.
And those worries turned out to be well-founded as the visitors scored twice to completely change the game. Many people think that the goals, especially the second—would not have happened if Alvarez had not been on the field. Alvarez, the most notable summer acquisition for West Ham, will now miss the league’s first match against Serbia’s TSC Backa Topola.
Manchester City Signed Divine Mukasa From West Ham
Fabrizio Romano announced on Twitter(X) that Divine Mukasa, a midfielder for West Ham United had joined Manchester City. In order to complete their expanding junior system with the best players now available, the Premier League champions are continuing their hiring drive outside of the summer transfer season.
Manchester City’s under-19 squad opened their UEFA Youth League campaign with a dominant 5-2 victory over Crvena zvezda’s under-19 team on Tuesday afternoon at the City Football Academy. Divine Mukasa and Jamal Baptise are not the only young players that have transferred from West Ham to Manchester City; Josh Wilson-Esbrand did so first in more recent years, in 2019.
The left-back from England’s junior national team is highly regarded at the Etihad Stadium and is presently playing in France’s Ligue 1 on loan with Stade de Reims for the current season.
