West Ham United Are Preparing To Make A Bid Of £28.5 Million Or More For Montpellier Striker

According to Loic Tanzi of L’Equipe, West Ham is prepared to make a bid for Montpellier attacker Elye Wahi that exceeds £28.5 million. As per a report on the official L’Equipe website, the Hammers have entered the competition to sign the 20-year-old striker and are prepared to submit their opening offer.

After having Frankfurt’s proposal for that amount rejected by the Ligue 1 club earlier in the window, it is anticipated to be more than €33 million (£28.5 million). Chelsea also had a proposal rejected, and they have not yet submitted a new one. They stated that West Ham had “concretely positioned itself on the Frenchman Elye Wahi” following Frankfurt and Chelsea.

“A first offer from The Hammers is anticipated soon.” Frankfurt has already spent over 33 million euros, including bonuses (£28.5 million). Still too far from what the MHSC wants. The Montpellier striker talked with Chelsea’s top brass personally this week, but the Blues are taking their time to pick up speed. Wahi may be the next in a long line of acquisitions by West Ham and David Moyes that have shown a preference for Ligue 1 in previous seasons.

Wahi managed to score an astounding 19 league goals last season despite being so young, which caught the interest of numerous prominent teams. Danny Ings is the key player right now, and Moyes has backup alternatives in Maxwel Cornet and youthful Divin Mubama. But as the club looks to once again solve an imbalanced position in the market, bringing in a young prodigy with such a remarkable eye for goal may be the ideal solution.

West Ham To Make Official Announcement Soon

According to Sky Sports, West Ham will soon reveal its acquisition of Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse. The English international skipped his club’s physical, the British broadcaster said on the club’s transfer blog on Friday.

Since he wasn’t hired in time, the 28-year-old will be unavailable for their Premier League start against Bournemouth on Saturday. It’s absurd to say the least that no new West Ham player will be available for the team’s opening game of the year. Due to how late the trade was completed, Edson Alvarez has joined but is not accessible for the match and did not even take part in pre-season.

Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca are absent, and Lucas Paqueta could be departing the team as well. A team that narrowly avoided relegation needs to be stronger, and even if they have improved, they still face the possibility of being demoted.

Nothing about this Hammers team inspires optimism that they will have a more successful domestic campaign, and David Moyes is not to blame. He feels that the board has betrayed him once more, therefore he needs Ward-Prowse and a lot of fresh signings as quickly as possible.
