Declan Rice, Gianluca Scamacca, Nikola Vlasic, Arthur Masuaku, Manuel Lanzini, Mipo Odebuko, and Armstrong Oko-Flex departed West Ham in the other direction, while Flynn Downes, a talented young midfielder, joined Southampton on a season-long loan.

The Irons have had a fantastic start to the 2023/2024 Premier League campaign, winning three of their first four league games and going unbeaten up until the international break. It has been a very positive start to this new season despite losing stars like Rice over the summer, and reports have claimed they could strengthen even more by re-signing Lingard on a temporary basis.

For What May West Ham Consider to Re-Sign Lingard

The 30-year-old forward stood out out during his loan spell at West Ham in 2021, where he played under Moyes, by scoring nine goals and sending out four assists in a total of 16 league appearances. Since being released by Nottingham Forest in the summer, Lingard has been without a club; nevertheless, he is currently practicing with West Ham on what amounts to a trial basis.

The former Manchester United star even played for them in a friendly game against Ipswich Town on Thursday, which was played behind closed doors and included Angelo Ogbonna, Danny Ings, and Thilo Kehrer. A club insider and an ExWHUemployee, has offered an update on the prospect of West Ham and Moyes re-signing Lingard on a Bosman.

He says Lingard made an impression in “flashes” during the draw with Ipswich, but his fitness difficulties remain in question. The player will likely still be given a short-term deal, but not before he is totally fit and performing at his best. It would be fascinating to see whether Lingard eventually has a second chance with the team where he excelled two years ago.
